when i try to install ubuntu 8.04 i get a error saying
buffer i/o error on device
fdo,logical block 0
hda: drive not ready for command
i have tried the suggestions at

but still no luck my system is
80gb maxtor 3.5 drive ide slot (spare one im trying to put ubuntu on
80gb seagate ide slot (not plugged in and has windows xp on)
160 gb maxtor (sata2 ) (has all my software and music etc on )
gigabyte geforce 8500 gt
a spare 256mb xfx 7600gt fatal1ty (not in use right now)
gigabyte ma69vm-s2 motherboard
corsair 2gb (2x1gb) ddr2 667m
amd am2 4200 dual core cpu
wondering if any one can help as right now on this spare 80gb maxtor drive im running fedora 9 but really want to try ubuntu
