In

Edit -> Preferences -> Applications

it does not seem possible to set helper applications.

For example, I can view a flash video on You Tube using the non-free flash plugin but I cannot view a flash file by loading it in firefox because the default application is not set, and cannot be set as far as I can make out.

Has anyone encountered this problem and is there a solution?

Thanks.

Chandra

See:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Firefox3KDEIntegrationIntrepid

which says:

"Mime-Type Handling

The mime-type has become worse in firefox 3 for pure KDE desktops as mailcap support was completely dropped, which basically leaves KDE users without any defaults for non-browser content types."

So, alas, it seems Kubuntu users are hung out to dry for this feature.
