It seems that not all applications can be found in Applications -> Add / Remove. Eg. I did a search on Apache, Nagios, etc and the search results is nil. However, using Synaptic Package Manager will turn up positive results for Nagios and Apache packages. Is there a limitation to Add/Remove in terms of search results?

Does Add/Remove offer a cleaner way to install and uninstall applications as compared to using Synaptic Package Manager? Does Add/Remove or Synaptic Package Manager uninstall unnecessary dependencies when an application is uninstalled?

What's the difference between Add/Remove and Synaptic Package Manager and under what circumstances is each method most suitable for?

Thanks !

Add/Remove is a simplified version of Synaptic. If it is in Add/Remove then dowload it, if not, then use Synaptic.
