Hello, when I insert DVD into my drive, it automatically starts to play in Totem. I want it to be played by mplayer. Any ideas how can I do that? I checked System>Preferences>Removable Drives and Media, but there is no CD/DVD-ROM.

check Edit>>Prefences>>Media from a nautilus file browser window...Places>>Home folder.

Thanks. There is a choice of desktop mplayer version (gmplayer), which actually freezes while opening dvd (the same happens with totem). I just want it to run in mplayer, like after terminal command mplayer dvd://, this command works perfectly well with dvds.

You could right-click on the applications menu, then edit MPlayer's launch command to the one that works well with DVDs. As always though, I recommend VLC. See my Multimedia & Video How-to (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683) if you want to try VLC as the default DVD player.
