hello gurus- I'm new to ubuntu and new to *nix in general, please accept my newb question.

I went out to mozilla and downloaded the latest 2.0 package. i installed it to /opt/thunderbird as nothing was under ~/.thunderbird. When i try to run thunderbird nothing happens (not even an error). I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I know this is vague, but i don't have an error message. The only error message i get is if i try to do ./run-mozilla.sh and that says, "unable to Execute" however permissions are -wrxr-xr-x -- help is much appreciated.

For Ubuntu 8.04 you can install Thunderbird 2 by Synaptic.

Best regards
Gerald

Yes I know that now. That also is a leadin for my Synaptic thread. Thanks for the input though!

once i resolved my synaptic proxy issue, I was able to do sudo apt-get mozilla-thunderbird. Thanks,
