I have received my 8.04 CD and am interested if there is a method to upgrade my current install of 7.10 with the live CD I now have? Everything that I see indicates that this CD is good only for clean install.

I have a slow internet connection and it would take too long to download the alternate CD image.

Thanks.

The "Desktop" CD is for fresh installs. The "Alternate" CD allows upgrades or fresh installs.

If you have a separate /home partition, the "Desktop" CD will allow you to do a fresh install without losing any data or settings from /home (just use the same username / password).

If not - I don't think it's possible.

The only way i can see for you to upgrade is to download (Or borrow from someone who already downloaded) the Alternate CD instead. Desktop LiveCD's only "copies" itself to HDD installation.

Or, have your important data backed up then do a clean install with Hardy.
