Acer Aspire 5100 wireless issue with update

Ok. I have the popular issue of my wifi card being detected and having drivers but not being usable. I am a total n00b with ubuntu and hope to begin my windows free life soon. if i can get it working on this laptop and if i can run games on it i may be windows free even sooner.
