the perfect opportunity for Ubuntu to shine in the UMPC market.

will ubuntu netbook remix be ready?

will Dell keep hiding linux in their website?

Will the linux version be advertised at all in the front pages?

or will XP be the exclusive...

By the looks of the release dates for the Mini Inspiron and the Netbook Remix, and the joint efforts of Canonical and Dell, it will get on there.
This has been taken for granted on Ideastorm.

maybe we got to push for ubuntu in this UMPC at dellideastorm before it's release

i want them to sell the ubuntu version at the same time next to the windows version.

this might be the best opportunity for Ubuntu in 2008

i hope they act fast enough and get it right

That Dell looks a bit like my large eyeshadow case.

I've had first gen Eee for 3 months, but managed to break the keyboard yesterday. I might buy this if I can't figure out how to fix it... looks very promising.

it should be under 500$ and probably with intel atom.

This really has me excited. I've been thinking about buying an EeePC for sometime now, but I was reluctant due to the battery life (on the first-gen, non-atom ones), the screen res and the OS itself (not a fan of Xandros). I've seen Ubuntu installed on these little buggers, but that shifts the boot-up time from just 10-12 seconds to close to a minute, as some have reported.

But now Dell's getting into the mix, it's got atom, Ubuntu's making the notebook remix push, and it looks seriously better than the EeePC. I'm excited! :D

Others to consider are the MSI Wind and the ECS G10IL

hopefully ubuntu netbook remix will cut down the bootup time to maybe 20 or 30 seconds.

but if it gets really tweaked we might see it as fast as xandros mobile version

i think the installation of ubuntu netbook remix will be similar to Arch.

Arch is super fast in these little notebooks

Arch is super fast in these little notebooksI can surely attest to that :)

Boot time is around 15 seconds in mine (1st gen) with Arch.

BTW, when will Netbook Remix be released? All announcements say it will be released on "the first week of June".

Since we're on the first week of June already, the exact final release date should be known by now, shouldn't it?

So where's the beta? Shouldn't it be Release Candidate already? (according to news in all sites, Ubuntu Netbook Remix would be released this week!)
