I've just successfully installed 64-bit Hardy on my new HP dv9700t (yay!). While enabling desktop effects and Compiz, I installed the non-free NVIDIA driver.

My "problem," if that's not too strong a word, is that the driver install left the "Driver Manager" icon hanging out on my top panel, and I can't seem to get rid of it. Neither the app, the icon, nor the panel have an option for removing it. I thought a new Gnome session might get rid of it, but no joy.

I suspect that I'm failing to think of something obvious. Anyone?

Solved: it disappeared after a reboot. That would be the obvious thing I was failing to think of.
