Hi guys,

I used LUKS to encrypt my hard drive on a Ubuntu 7.04 machine. Recently, after a reboot, I discovered problems with my drive and I can't start my machine. Some messages like the followings are printed on screen:

"port is slow to respond please be patient"
"ATA: Abnormal Status ..."

I don't know what is the cause but after printing the above messages, my machine can't start. It just then prints all error messages like: "IO buffer error ...". I've tried many ways but till now, I still can't start my machine.

In the encrypted drive, I have some important data that need to be recovered. However, I can't start the machine so I don't know how to recover them.

Is there any one who know a way to recover data in such an above case?

Thanks in advance!

I would say to try and boot with a live cd or knoppix to try and access that data of yours and copy it over to a usb drive or something.
