Today my shutdown button disapeared. I have logout, suspend,
hibernate, switch users and lock screen options, but the red,
shutdown, disapeared. Is this caused by some update? Shoudn't
I shut down anymore (kiding)? Anyone has seen the same?
Thanks.

Solved, for some reason it is back there. I didn't do nothing that I was
aware of though...

If worst comes to worst you can manually shut your computer off. It's stange your button disappeared for awhile though,
did you install any new themes?

I know I can shut down it from the command line, I'm a linux user of the "old" times.
I didn't install any new theme. I have been playing with compiz, but at that time it was turned off, and it is still working now, so I don't think it was causing the problem. I have been also trying to make the brightness control work from the keyboard, and for that I was running some xrand program at login (I'm not sure what it does), maybe that was the reason, I turned it off because I was also having a login problem (the first login trial restarted X everytime, the second logged well), which has been also solved now without any clear explanation.
