View Full Version : [ubuntu] installing downloaded themes in ubuntu

i downloaded a theme pack and extracted it into my documents the 4 files are all .deb and when i go to my themes/appearance menu and click install themes and select the theme pack i downloaded it says it is not a valid theme. how do i make my downloaded theme work?

send me a link to this theme pack and I'll give it a whirl and let you know if I got it to work, and how I did if I did...hmmm grammar there needs work.../shrug anyway link me up scotty

As far as I can tell, those are .debs so you need to just double click them and they will install with gdebi package installer. When you download most themes from gnomelook ect. they are in a different format than that and you will be able to either drag and drop them into the "Appearances" dialog or use the method that you employed before by clicking install and navigating to them. These are deb files and thay install by double click provided that you have gdebi installed (should be by default)
