I just updated to the latest kernel version 2.6.24-17 and I'm using an ess 2898 modem. Is it normal for a new kernel version to corrupt a driver and force you to reinstall the driver? Just curious. Modem failed to work on reboot with the new kernel version - but works fine after I ran ./setup for the driver.
