Hi Guys,

Completely new to linux. installing ubuntu on another hard drive on this PC. Running Windows XP on this drive and have a spare drive for general storage.

Booting from the live CD i get into ubuntu and click the install icon on the desktop.

The installation seems to go fine untill 90% where it just sits there "Configuring Hardware" and wont do anything else.

Can anyone help?

Cheers
Luke.

Did you check the integrity of the Ubuntu CD by running the verification function that is found on the initial Ubunut boot screen menu ?

bit strange i have to say....

Done the CD intregrity check from the boot menu and that went through fine. so thought i would give the memtest ago. i let that run for an hour and it comepleted 2 cycles... no errors.

Gave the install another go and if flew in. no problems what so ever. now i just have to learn to use it :P
