At our last meeting, Sunday May 25, I brought up the possibility of creating some branding for Arizona Team members. I have screenshots of potential wallpaper and theme, and would welcome your comments.
Wallpaper: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/2527261577/
Theme: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/2527276691/
I suggest that comments be made in this thread, where everyone can have a voice. I don't get into flickr often enough to catch comments made there (though, of course, you're welcome to leave them there, also)
Thanks
ADDED: NOT A SCREENSHOT - A wallpaper more representative of Arizona http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/2529496416/
SECOND ADD: Logo centered more for johnc4510. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/2528706533/

Fast work!! and a nice start. I hope we get lots of suggestions, and maybe some other examples to look at.
My suggestion concerns the wallpaper. I would like to see the logo centered at the bottom. I know that generally, things look better when slightly offset, but since I and several other of our members use conky it would be better to have it centered. My conky runs on the right side of the screen.
Great work tyche. As ususal!!=D>

You need a wide option too ;)
Here is my idea for one ( from your photo Tyche ), I use 1400x800 and the 4:3 ratio images look like crap that way.

Hi all! I've been working on a theme for our team branding idea and have some images set up on photobucket for you to look at. The links are below. The first image is of the desktop, the second with the home folder open, the third and fourth are the GDM greeter. Now, the third and fourth you have to imagine together because the third one doesn't show all the options that appear or the face you can insert. The third one does show the ubuntu-us-az text I inserted via gimp.

These are just ideas, but I have tried to keep to the brown theme but in a more subtle way, and I have also tried to have something that was consistent from GDM greeter right on through.

Version 1: Wallpaper is depressing - literally. It feels like I'm about to be compressed by some sort of rolling blobs. Also, the color lacks "uplift", being a flat, grayish brown.
Version 2: Window border is nice. I like the sweep of color.
Version 3: Branding - Too much Ubuntu, and not enough Arizona Team
Version 4: See Version 3, above.
So, now you have a critique. Happy?:lolflag:

New Wallpaper:
This is an attempt to do a "line" version of a roadrunner, with a depth-of-field background.

A quick suggestion from the guy who's always too busy to show up for meetings:
If we're going to use photos for wallpapers, I'd suggest a sunset or two. I've lived all up and down the western half of this country, and no place has better sunsets. They're breathtaking.

I agree. But I haven't been able to get out and find a good place to set up for the panorama shots (it takes about 4 overlapped photos to do it right, which means set up a tripod and lock all but pan). However, as you see from the post above, I'm working on trying to come up with an "artistic" wallpaper.

I all,
I know I just kind of melt into the background, but it was suggested that I post this here:

I was asking someone else about why we don't have people in our desktop backgrounds since it's "Linux for Human Beings". So I took the liberty of creating something out of many pictures I have taken over the years.
I'm still not used to GIMP so it was created under Microsoft Image Composer (using wine of course).
Thank you for your time.

New branding possibilities are available. Note that the background picture is negotiable. I'm just providing the branding.
See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/2719728703/ for the latest. The pictures would be supplied by whoever wants to brand their desktop.
NOTE: The photo used in this wallpaper is in the public domain, by the author.
Other examples exist on the Flickr site. See the top 4 at http://www.flickr.com/photos/22090195@N03/
