need help with installation

I inserted the ubuntu cd for installation. Everything goes fine except for when i reach step 4, which is prepare partitions. The list is blank. It says "You need to specify a partition for the root file system (mount point "/") with a minimum size of 2 GB, and a swap partition of at least 256 MB. You may also set up other partitions if you wish." How do I do this?

Could you post a screenshot? Just simply pressing printscreen will do it.

Ah i see, my apologies for late reply
If you go back 1 step you should be able to see your partitions, you need to make one of them root

I see you are using 7.10, it would be best to use 8.04 this is the newest version and is the long term support version.
