I normally go for icons, but list seems like an easier way to do it, what is your opinion?

I use a list - I find it much more useful to have a lot of information displayed about each file rather than just the icon and name.

Icons. I switch to list (or details in windows) if I need to know specific information

how do you get list to display file size (not the number of files contained within a folder, but the actuall size)

If I'm in a folder where everything is organised and I'm used to navigating then I go icons.
If I'm in a big folder - for example a dump from my HDD camcorder - then I browse by list organised by Date Created so I can fish out individual files.

Icons@home, list@work. I didn't vote.
And columns a few months from now hopefully :) (dolphin-kde4)

List.
I find it more usefull than icons.
Beeing able to see the details is a feature I really need.

I use icons in Thunar, I can find out various information by simply clicking on an icon and the info will display in the status bar

I generally view my files from the CLI... so neither.
