I installed Wine and Steam on my Ubuntu laptop. I also installed CS:S through Steam on there and Steam works fine. When I go to launch CS:S, it launches, the loading menu renders fine, but when it goes to the regular menu, the screen starts flashing and I can't see anything. IT just gets really dark. I thought Compiz might be the issue so I changed the startup thing to metacity and rebooted. No luck, the issue remains. The game is loading, I just acn't see anything and I am verifying this because if I move my mouse around I can hear the menu clicks, I ust can't see them. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, the newest Ubuntu, and Wine RC2. Thanks for the help guys.

load winecfg change wine to use a virtual desktop of just less than your laptop screens max resolution. If you get into the game that way, set the screen res ingame to somethign you know your laptop supports then give it a go again without wine in virtual desktop mode.
