Hi all,
Brand new to Ubuntu. It Runs like a Cadillac on my office desktop, but I also had an old 1.0 ghz dell that I'd like to donate to a local school.

The dell has 512mb ram and 1.0 ghz. The XP service pack 2 w/ norton internet security commanded far too much of the computers resources so I installed Xubuntu on it.

Xubuntu installed well but it was lagging at first, so I turned down the visual effects. I'd really like to get the OS to be as lite as possible. I went to sessions and it didn't have any xfce or xubuntu type of option.

Also a side note: When I start up the computer it says ubuntu, not xubuntu. Maybe this is normal.

Anyway, do I have to download xfce separately? because I was having trouble doing the terminal stuff and couldn't find a link.

I'll restate the question below to make it more clear:

[1]Is Xubuntu supposed to say Ubuntu when it loads?
[2]Do I have an XFCE setting built in, or do I have to download it?
[3]How do I download XFCE (If I don't have it already)? Is there a way to download it without going through the terminal stuff?

Thanks...
Mike

2.If you downloaded Xubuntu iso image XFCE is allready there.

3. it is answered above.

Here (http://www.xubuntu.org/) you can download Xubuntu.

You have another option. If you have Ubuntu(gnome) installed and you want to have XFCE run in terminal
