Can anyone tell me the point of this plugin?

I was bored and decided to look around in "about: plugins" and I noticed something interesting. Apparently, there is some Itunes Application Detector plugin. Now, forgive my ignorance, but could some one tell me the point of this plugin? It seems to tie in with Rhythmbox...and I haven't actually been able to do anything with it.

There are a quite a few spoof plugins installed by default, they're mostly media related. I'd say it says exactly what it says, only with Rythmbox (which can handle certain aspects of the iTunes store, right?)

Kubuntu uses Konquerer. Rythmbox is a GNOME app, and Ubuntu uses Firefox. Makes perfect sense.
