I'm looking for a good program to write books/novels(or at least, try to :P). But I can't find any for Linux. I'm not looking for a word processor but more for something to write the plot and background information down. A timeline would be great. I've tried MediaWiki and Tomboy, but they didn't offer what I wanted(at least not completely). Does anyone knows such a program or plugins to make general programs do this? Thanks in advance.

I don't really know what you mean, can you mention a windows program so that we know what you mean, (or if it comes to it, get it running in wine)

One of these may fit what you are looking for.

celtx (http://www.celtx.com/overview.html)
scripped (http://www.scripped.com/)
zhura (http://www.zhura.com/)

yWriter (http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter.html) works under Wine
