I'm trying to install ubuntu on a toshiba tecra (?) and for some reason (after I configured to have the CD load first) after the bar stops moving and there's a bunch of text falling out of nowhere I get a screwed up display and lots of lines which I know shouldn't happen. Anyone have a fix for me?

When this happens, can you do
Ctrl+Alt+F1
and log in there?
What kind of graphics card does your laptop have?

Maybe their is a problem with the ubuntu installation CD. Try redownloading ubuntu and burning it onto a new cd.

Another root would to run the check disk function on the cd. It will test to make sure the cd is alright. If you can't get your laptop to get to that screen then put the disk into another computer. You should see the check disk function when you see the install function.
