how to upgrade using cd? from 7.10 to 8.04

I got ubuntu 8.04 cd now and using 7.10 and how to upgrade it to 8.04 only using that cd?
i tried inserting cd into rom and nothing happen not any message came and i want upgrade it to 8.04 using that cd in that computer i dont have internet connection coz i can't use internet connection with that computer only using that cd how to move from 7.10 to 8.04

Is BIOS set to boot from cd and did you reboot?

but doesn't work anything for me want to mention again i don't have internet anly have the cd please help me upgrade only usin that cd i got from shipment

If you obtained the CD from ShipIt then it's not the alternate CD. The only CD you can upgrade from the the alternate one. You'll have to get someone with an internet connect to download the alternate ISO, check the MD5 sums and burn it.

You could do a complete reinstall from the CD you have but you'd need to backup all your data first.
