I know this question has been asked about a gazzilion times but, I can't find an answer by searching. I would like to use KDE Adept manager. It says I must run it as root. How do I do that? Thanks for any help.

Type in the password of the account you created upon installation.

In other words, your user account password.

Thanks Maestro. I understand that much but, I'm not for sure where to type it or which command to use.

You post header says you are running Ubuntu, which uses Synaptic to install software. Are you in fact running Kubuntu?

Anyway, here's a How-To on KDE Adept: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AdeptHowto

Maestro,
Thanks anyway. I'm just learning how to run Ubuntu. Trying a different manager just to learn. Some things need to be run as root. I don't know how. That was the reason for asking.

When the GUI asks for your root password, you type in your user account password. Now in a terminal, you need to preface your commands with "sudo".

RootSudo: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo

Hope that guide helps you.
