View Full Version : [gnome] problem changing system sounds in hardy?

I'm trying to change my system sounds (focusing on startup at the moment).

I downloaded a sound pack (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Dream?content=75398), converted the OGG files to WAV files. First, I tried going to system->preferences->sound and choosing the new file. When I clicked preview, nothing happened, so I rebooted, and nothing happened on reboot. (All other sounds still work, btw). I then tried placing the file in /usr/share/sounds and doing the same, no luck. Since it still worked when I reverted to the original file, I decided to remove the default startup sound from /usr/share/sounds and re-name the new file to match what the old one was. No luck there either.

I changed the name of the new file back and put the old one back in, and now that wav file doesn't seem to be working either, anymore.

Am I doing something wrong as far as changing my default system sounds goes?
