We got a Genuine notebook computer. It was the last one in the shop. I guess therefore it is already natural older than others.
Ubuntu 8.04 installed to my surprise without any problems and even booted afterwards.
Two things are not working:
1. microphone.
Regardless if I plug in a microphone or use the internal it does not work.
If, however, you are plug in/out the microphone you can hear that cracky noise. I also can hear myself via the microphone, but Audacity and Skype do not get any sound of it.
I read that I should upgrade Alsa. I wonder if Ubuntu 8.04 has not already the newest Alsa. How can I see which version of Alsa I have? More important is of course how to fix it.
2. Internal Web camera
I booted in Windows first and saw in Device Manager, that the camera is a BisonCam,NB Pro
In the logs is nothing about a camera.
What am I going to do next?
bye
