I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my daughters laptop, but after logging in, there is only a prompt saying: "louise@louise-laptop:~$".

How can I fix that?

Hi and welcome, did you see the login screen? Then you login and reach command prompt, try the command startx. Could you tell us some system specs and you did download the desktop version of ubuntu correct?

I just found out, that the problem is the resolution of the login-screen. How do I change that?
