Hello, new here, got something in common with some of you. I have a HP530 laptop with the GMA950 Intel Graphics Card. Actual Laptop Here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147671)

I haven't tried Gutsy on this, but fallen in love with Hardy. (for obvious reasons) But i cant seem to get 3da working AT ALL. I have tried countless xorg configurations, tried setting (Driver "i950")(Driver "i915")(Driver "i810")(Driver "intel") and tried various kernel patches. Kinda feeling the pain here, and would like some help. Anybody out there got any ideas?

Looks like an older intel driver. The new intel driver encompasses all chipsets; install it with
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel

then enable it by manually editing your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, and change the above line (in red) to
Driver "intel"

Save it, exit, close all open programs, then restart your X server with Ctrl+Alt+BkSpace,

Gave this a shot, and im still having the same issue. GLXINFO still says no 3da. I assume this is a known issue? Is there some beta or manual way to install intel drivers? I tried removing and reinstalling the xserver intel drivers. No go.

Thanks to macgow, he had me run this package, and it worked: http://ppa.launchpad.net/timg-tpi/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic_2.6.24-17.32ubuntu11_i386.deb

Thanks for your help man, Really.

Hey this kernel update is showing up in my update manager today! I don't believe in coincidences; is it because:

a) it was recently offered (Within the past couple of days?)
b) the maintainers-that-be just realized it should be included?

.. no offence intended.
