Upgrading using live CD

Can i upgrade my ubuntu to 8.04 using my live cd of ubuntu 8.04

No, LiveCD's cannot be used for upgrading. LiveCD's does not contain packages needed for an upgrade. Using the LiveCD only makes a direct copy of the live session on your HDD.

Also, I highly recommend doing a clean install vs an upgrade, if at all possible. Things tend to go much more smoothly with a clean install.

Only alternate CD can do upgrade.You can download it and try it or do fresh install as suggested.
