I just finished installing ubuntu 8.04 (dual boot) from the cd provided by Canonical for the second time and I've been having the same problems logging in. I entered the correct username and password in the login screen and it seemed like the desktop was going to load (I saw the top bar for a second) but the screen became black and the login screen popped up again asking for a username. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem is.
