View Full Version : [ubuntu] Keyboard issue after upgrade from 7 to 8

May 20th, 2008, 08:26 AM
I was using Ubuntu 7 before and recently I had upgraded to 8.0.4. During using Ubuntu 7, the keyboard is functioning fine. However, after the upgrade keyboard is not working properly.

Now, after login into the desktop:
- pressing left shift key will trigger the logout/suspend/shutdown dialog;
- pressing right shift key will tigger the volumn control scrollbar;
- something pressing right shift with a character does not have any response;
- pressing left control key will echo with three zero (i.e. 000)

May I have somebody have a way to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.

What if you try navigating the "Keyboard Preferences". Click on "System-> Preferences-> Keyboard" and select the "Layout" tab. Check if you have the default "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC" in your keyboard model. If not, try browsing it and selecting Generic 105-key (Intl) PC.

Try looking at "System-> Preferences-> Keyboard Shortcuts.

You should go to the system settings panel, there is a Regional & Language menu. There you go to keyboard layout. Check if the options set there are right for you, you probably should have US or US-International.
