i've now tried multiple computers and multiple types of cds with no luck of burning ubuntu without some kind of error on the disc... i can usually get the cd version to run but there's always some courpt file and i can never install it :( any help would be useful...

oh and i've tried nero as well as iso recorder with no luck :(

any chance i may be able to install it from a flash drive without having it already?

Maybe its not the disk which has the error. Maybe its the Ubuntu ISO file you are trying to burn which is corrupt. Try checking its MD5 hash first and comparing it with the original. Also, try burning it at a lower speed (4x).

If you still have iso image of Ubuntu on your HDD download same one with torrent and ppoint download to the folder where your iso is.Torrrent will just check your iso and replace corrupted files with good ones. After that check md5sum (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) and burn at lower possible speed. Then check disc integrity and if it is O.K. go for install.
