EeePC multiple external disk installation

Thanks for any help you can give me.

This is the situation:
I'm testing if the EeePC meets my demands. Due to this I can't edit the internal SSD.
The BIOS is set to boot an external drive first.
Now I want to create a normal Linux boot from a external pendrive.

I have a 256 MB SD card and a 8GB pendrive.
I was planning on using the SD card as swap (to reduce write activity on pendrive).
And the deviding the pendrive in 2 partitions. 1 ext2 (reduce write) for OS and 1 for data storage.

But I don't know where to start?!

I've read the ubuntu pendrive instructions. This is a 750 MB live CD like feature. But I would like a full install like feature with restricted drivers and all. Not a live CD like boot.

Should I get an other pendrive to install ubuntu from that on my pendrive? Or is there a way to place ubuntu on my pendrive in a way it will install itself when booted (oem install like?)? And can I use the SD card as swap or should deactivate swap?

Hmmm... I'm not sure using a pen drive is such a good idea. I've heard that using an SDHC card might be better because it's supposed to be squite fast. Anyway, here is a howto I think looks quite good:

I havent actually tried this yet but I'm probably going to once I get the eeepc and card.
