I found this awesome presentation program called sliderocket

www.sliderocket.com

It's in beta but will come out this summer. I was thinking if it was open source then the offline client could be included in Ubuntu by default..

Some web apps are open source. Here's MediaWiki (runs Wikipedia) just as an example: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki

I don't think SlideRocket is, though. I don't see any sign of it on their website, anyway.

Yes, you can copyright PHP and the like, so no, they aren't unless they specifically say so (and provide the ability to edit the source legally)

Opensource? Technically, yes. I can see the source.
Paid or Copyrighted? Yes, some are.

Not everything is up for download, as they are homebrew apps, and are considered 'closed source' as me or you can't see the source.

Open source technically has nothing to do with being able to see the source. Also, some web apps don't allow you to see the source.

Open means that you can enter to it, there's a reason we don't call it VisibleSource.
