Is there more I can do to customize themes in Hardy Heron? I already have emerald to take care of the frame thing with the close and minimize buttons, but as far as the theme....there aren't many options. I don't know what it uses now to manage themes (like ones you can get from gnome look), but I know it lets you chose tabs like colors, font, and most importantly...controls. Is there a way to customize that more? I've looked at themes from gnome-look, but I haven't been completely thrilled with any. If there was a way I could customize the themes like you can with emerald, that would be awesome.

Again, I'm not asking how to get more themes. I want to get something that will let me customize the themes more like emerald does for the frame.

I know that the gtk2.x themes from gnome-look are hit or miss. I have found some excellent ones that have skins for each part of gnome. Others have just a skin for the window.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking for though? You want more built-in controls for changing the theme? What else are you looking to change. The gnome panel colors? Icons? Font?

If you install one of the gtk2.x themes from gnome-look (my favorite is Moomex (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Moomex-Theme?content=57063)) and then navigate to /home/username/.themes/Moomex/gtk-2.0 you can take a look at the gtkrc file, which is similar to a config file for the theme.

EDIT: OR ignore what I said and check this out http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/Tutorials

I'm working on XP rightnow (I have too) so I can't get on ubuntu at the moment to look at the gtkrc file. Now...wah tI want to change is stuff that is changed from the controls tab. I already got the icon set I want and the frame thing is taken care of by emerald. So, whatever that "controls" thing changes...I'd like to customize more. This might not be everything, but here are a few things that controls changes that I'd like to be able to customize: toolbars (like in firefox), menus, panel, scrollbars.

Again, the frame thing (with the close and minimize buttons) is fine because it is managed by emerald; the font is fine because it lets you choose what font you want in the default theme manager; and the icon set is fine because I found one that I liked from gnome-look.

Ok, I got on ubuntu and tried moomex. it's great...but again...I'm not completely satisfied. it would be so cool if i could take the scrollbar/button stuff from one theme and combine it with this one. Moomex has kinda boring scrollbars. I like the menu a lot, and the fact that you can customize colors.
