View Full Version : [ubuntu] Need help installing through live cd.

May 19th, 2008, 04:51 PM
I just burned a live cd for ubuntu. I put it in my computer and booted from it. I partitioned my hard drive through System>Admin>Partition Editor.

So now I have 40 GB of unallocated space in my about 250 gig hard drive.

I want to keep the rest for Windows Vista Home Premium. My fave os.

So I started the installation and I want to select my 40 GB of unallocated space. But how do I do it.

I might post some more posts quickly because I'm gonna be on the computer for 6 hours.

An easy tutorial would be nice. and I do not want to overwrite my vista installation. Especially because I have no install disk >.< stupid computer never came with one.

choose manual installation and make mount point for the partition- /

then choose ext3 and mark for formatting.

So I select manual and click next?

Ok, I'm in Prepare Partitions. I just selected manual and went forward and now I have a few choices.
Do I select free space. My 40GB?

then what do I do to it... this is kinda confusing.

How do I change the mount point?
