I currently have 3 servers, a mail server, web server and database server, all using Ubuntu 7.10. Last time I was to quick to upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 and ran into a lot of problems. So this time I'm being very cautious about upgrading to new distrubutions.

So has anyone else upgrade their servers to 8.04 or think Ubuntu is ready to be upgraded to 8.04 server edition?

Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

My previous mail server ran for 4 years straight without any updates.

I agree. If everything is working currently, don't update the distro (at least until end-of-life).

If you have to reinstall, consider 8.04 then.

I generally go by the moto

"If it ain't broke, fix it until it is".

I updated my server to 8.04 while it was still in alpha, never had any complaints. Apache w/ PHP, Perl and Python, MySQL, Postfix, Dovecot, all working smoothly. My personal lockups on remote connections sending outgoing mail are working splendidly and Roundcube (webmail) runs great. On top of that, I use it as a desktop quite often.
