I'm trying to install Ubuntu on a Acer Aspire 1350 but after selecting to install and some loading I get to:

"Loading, please wait...
Linux ubuntu 2.6.24-16-generic #1 ... etc
The programs included with the ubuntu system are free software;
etc
etc

To run a command as administrator (user "root"), use "sudo <command>".
See "man sudo_root" for details.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$"Also, if I try starting it as LiveCD it stopps at:
"Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) [OK]"Any ideas is greatly appreciated!

Clean your disk (and drive if possible) and try reinstalling.

Are you dual booting? Vista?

Using the "alternate" CD solved the problem. :)

Care to enlighten a newbie by what you mean of cleaning the disk? Because if I take that literally, I'd need a clean room to crack open the HD and actually clean it. Would I need a special cloth to clean the platters or will Windex and paper towel do.

Oh wait, could you mean to RUN a disk utility to "clean" the HD? Or are you referring to cleaning the cd/dvd/cd-r/dvd-r drive?

You see, your response leaves more questions than it answers. I honestly do want to know what you mean by "clean your disk".

Yeah I meant Windex and a paper towel.

This works for me often.
