UBUNTU 8.04 Wont install on notebook

Hello all--I have a notebook here with a Centrino Cpu with 512ddr memory--built in wireless--The works... I have XP installed--so i tried installing using the new meun from windows but that failed--I also tried the live cd install--What happens is--Everything seems to go great with the install--However-the scrren becomes blank-with no other action taking place--The screen just stays black Any ideas?? hi - had problems with my old Toshiba 1400 - unable to install from live CD in 7.10 and 8.04 - got around it by downloading the "alternate" CD - it gives more control over the process ..hope this helps
