View Full Version : [ubuntu] Pidgin 2.4.2 from 2.4.1 on hardy

The new version came out yesterday, and a sudo apt-get update/upgrade has not found the newer version.

I'm rather new to all this, so could someone explain why the update is not available? Is it because I have to install the new version separately or because it is not yet ready for hardy?

Similar question for the upgrade from FF3b5 to FF3RC1.

Thanks in advance,

Kris

Newer software generally has to be compiled and tested on Ubuntu before adding it to the repositories for update, although if your eager to try a new program, goto www.getdeb.net and they tend to get things that big quicker...

Firefox upgrade should be ready in a week or so. Pidgin is not likely to be upgraded since this is a long term stable and introducing new software could cause instabilities.
