Ok, I have installed xubuntu-desktop but I can't change session.

During Login, I changed my session to Xfce but all I got was a blank screen.

What could be the problem??

Try renaming the hidden xfce configuration file (might be in your home folder) to something like .xfcebackup, and see if that fixes the issue of you trying to log in.

Hm i don't see any hidden files that you have mentioned.

It may be under /usr/share/apps. It will be in the form of a folder called something like .xfce4 (I am not sure of this, I would have to install xfce4 to check). :(

Ok i think my com crashed and went to restart

Can finally log in!

Sorry for all the trouble.

Think all it needs is just a simple restart

Ok I am glad. I assumed there was a buggy config file, and that renaming it would fix the issue, as it created fresh ones.

I have Xubuntu and the stock hardy set up if I stop the X session to restart either Gnome or Xfce the first try gives me a blank screen but if I hit control alt backspace again it comes up correctly. I found the Xfce4 in config in the home area if that is any help. I have found Xubuntu on top of Gnome to not run any faster, a clean install would probably work better
