Hi all,
I've followed this tutorial;
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/09/28/usb-ubuntu-710-gutsy-gibbon-install/

To pretty much transfer the Live CD for Gutsy to an 8gb pen drive, should be persistent so I can install packages when running it.

I can boot to the device etc... but when loading the desktop I get a message saying it xorg.conf hasn't been set up so I have to use a terminal, then instead of the terminal I just get this command line-looking screen printing out all these errors on how certain .fw files weren't found. I never get anything I can actually use to input commands.

Aside from that, as its pretty much the Live CD on a USB, setting up the xserver is a different process and pendrivelinux.com don't seem to have any troubleshooting section for their installs.

Anyone know what I'm on about and has any ideas???

Did you do an md5sum on your iso?

yeah, where you can check CD for errors right?
I actually ran the Live CD (from the CD) in order to get it to the USB and it worked fine. Just getting to desktop when running from USB is a problem. Suppose I could just install it to USB rather than using it Live, and use the generic Vesa driver for when I want to use it on different PC's

That's the way I use it.
