View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installing Ubuntu using NFS export as repository

Hi All,

Is it possible to install Ubuntu (Gusty or Hardy) via a NFS image - i.e. Booting through a PXE image and then selecting a NFS partition containing the package repository. This can be done using fedora (any version as far as I know) - but I simply couldn't find a way to do this for Ubuntu.

The problem is that the machine on which Ubuntu has to be installed doesn't have a CDROM drive, and neither do I have high bandwidth connection to perform net install.

I could successfully boot Ubuntu using a PXE image (netboot) but even that doesn't have any option of using NFS as repository. I tried using the alternate CD as well, but with no avail :(

That box runs a old PIII processor with 128MB RAM (I agree quite old, Intel DoTstation if you have heard of).

Any help would be really appreciated.
