I've been dealing with TigerDirect.com for mine and I've had it with their rebates not being honored. If you take the rebates away, their prices aren't that great. I would like to know where others out there find good deals for their components. I'm talking about all types of hardware. Cases, barebone kits, hard drives, cd drives, cpu's, fans, etc.

Thanks!

If you want to shop online go to pricewatch.com. They give you the best prices and customer ratings for the different vendors including Tiger Direct. If you have a PC Club in your area, they are a great place to buy computer parts at a reasonable price if you do not want to wait for your parts. Go to www.pcclub.com to find out if they have a store in your area and to look at their prices and availability.

Guys I run a network for 7 schools here in new jersey I did buy from tiger direct this year , their prices were similr to gov connection, never again the shipping sucked when you deal in large volumes , I still have stuff outstanding since july that has not been delivered yet . The sales rep is good or rather a nice guy but the company sucks when it comes to large orders. However I do buy my stuff from them and newegg when ordering for myself, cases and the like I go to computer fairs.

I think Canada Computers (http://www.canadacomputers.com) have great prices, but the nearest store to me is about a 40 minute drive away, in good traffic. I get most of my stuff from work, the prices are usually pretty good with my discount :D

I imagine that might be a good idea if you are located in Canada :)

Tiger direct has an outlet store about 40 miles from where I live. I was not impressed at all.

Last parts I bought were through CDW

I don't shop online, I current go to CompuSmart (I think its a local chain), or a small University Computer Store, which has very good prices. I don't really trust online shopping . . .

I think UComputers (http://www.ucomputer.ca) and CanadaSys (http://www.canadasys.com) provides the lowest prices here in T.O. They even have a match a price or 10% lower. (Hey, are we going to get some discount from them - since we're advertising them)

I shop mwave and computer geeks. Mwave has good service and prices, computer geeks used to have fantastic deals but since they've grown not so much, although the specials are worth shopping.

I'd like to warn folks about pricewatch. It's not an outlet just a service, and by the time you cut out the vendors with poor service you're really left with the vendors like mwave, newegg, computer geeks, etc. I've been burned by pricewatch vendors and pricewatch does NOT post criticisms of their advertisers or even count negative votes unless the vendor basically oks it! Totally untrustworthy service - proof that sometimes you don't even get what you pay for.

Newegg. I don't trust anyone else. I never got burned because I never stepped away from Newegg. As long as Newegg is around, no one else will sell me a motherboard, cpu, hard drive, case, or video card.

Memory Express. Calgary and Edmonton local chain. Good prices, good sales staff. Go in, rattle off your list, get out.

I've used pricewatch in the past. I agree. I'm leary about a lot of the vendors on there. I did find a couple of that I did do business with and I was quite satisfied. They were driveguys.com and directdeals.com.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I've been checking the newegg site out. They do seem to have some good deals and not much in the way of the rebate nonsense. They even had a DVD drive I just bought from Tiger for $20 less. :( What rebate stuff I did see seems to be instant rebates. I can certainly live with that. I think I'll be trying them out on my next purchase.

Thanks again!

There is a little shop up the street that sells used stuff and some new equipment. It appears to be run by a bunch of kids. I can usually get some good deals there. Other than that I usually get my stuff from Microcenter.

zipzoomfly (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Home.jsp) for all your penny pinching and free shipping needs. They were formally called googlegear.com until some thumb twidling lawyers took whiff of that blood trail...

zipzoomfly > newegg > all the rest. That is all...

Yes, Microcenter does a lot better on both selection and price than the Best Buy and CompUSA in my area. Its prices are competitive with the smaller, local stores. A great place to go to if you don't want to shop on-line.

Before I started building my own computers I had bought a few of their PowerSpec systems. There's a couple of MicroCenters in the Columbus area, but that's about an hour and half drive for me. They also have a website www.microcenter.com and www.powerspec.com. They're not a bad place for parts either.

Another "vote" for newegg and comp geeks. I buy most of my stuff from newegg. I'm in California and have to pay sales tax on newegg orders, but even with tax, the prices are usually better than most other places. I especially like newegg's customer review feature. These customer reviews have helped me decide between two similar products on more than one occasion.

I've never heard of zipzoomfly. I'm going to have to check them out. Thanks for the tip.

Anyone got any good places that are in Australia?

Now of course, the next time one of the family is in the US, I could get them to pick it up and bring it back, I suppose...

It depends what im after really and for how much, the most common places i go for computer hardware components are the following:

2.) Scan - http://www.scan.co.uk/
3.) Eclipse - http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/
4.) Dabs - http://www.dabs.com/

annnnnd thats about it lol. The most common i use out of those ones is definately Overclockers.

I ordered 2 things from NewEgg yesterday (10/21) at about noon, and today when I turned on my computer (10/22) at about noon, I found out that my order has shipped!

I can't wait for it to arrive!!!!!

Sorry, but looking at aria i'm not impressed with the prices. I use our weekly Saturday Computer fair (10 mins by bike) and they have everything and at least 20% cheaper than aria, and i did not even take their p&p into consideration!

Aside from cost i prefer fairs because you see what you buy and have a much more hands-on relationship and approach both the product and the seller
