Can anyone help me out with the following error message I am getting when the auto-update feature tries to download files...

Unable to connect to gb.archive.ubuntu.com http:

I assume it means that the server can't be found, but what should I do to fix the problem.

Some help/advise would be much appreciated, thanks.

You could wait, and the chances are it will sort itself out. Or, you could change it to us.archive.ubuntu.com by typing sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Thanks transactionlogfiller! I was not sure if it was a problem with my settings or the connection. I will follow your suggestion and try again tomorrow.

heeeeeeee! I have the same problem. When I connect to the internet form my office via the wireless net work this installation work fine but it not with my university wireless connection. Really I think that this might be a problem of internet connection or internet settings of my lap top.
