I reinstalled Windows(Both 98 and XP) and now it skips GRUB and goes to the Windows selection but Ubuntu still is on the drive.
How do I get it back without reinstalling Ubuntu?

Now it can open Ubuntu but when I select Windows, it says that it's missing a file.

EDIT:
I changed something in menu.lst and now it just says "Starting up ..." when I select Windows.

EDIT:
I changed something again and now when I try to select Windows it says,

Starting up ...
(Strange symbols that I cannot type)
Searching for Boot Record from IDE-1..OK
A kernel file is missing from the disk.
Insert a system diskette and restart
the system.

Please help! I really want an answer as soon as possible, I have things to do in Windows that are important and may take a few hours.

Well playing with obsolete operating systems that are 7 and 10 years old will do that to your PC :D

Try these instructions, I am sure you'll find something in here helpful:
