View Full Version : [ubuntu] home partition doesn't keep files' date modified

I made a separate home partition according to this guide: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/separatehome

Everything seemed to be working fine, until I noticed that every file that I copied into the new partition had its "Modified" date showing the time it was copied.

Any file that I copy either from the regular partition into /home, or from /home into the rest of the filesystem, loses its original modified date and says the time that I copied it.

This didn't happen when I copied files from CD to the hard drive.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
