OMG I think I really screwed up. I was changing my themes because I was bored with the defaults. To make a long story short, I added a dock with AWN. I moved everything to that dock and got rid of both the taskbars. Ive been using the dock for everything. That was over a week ago and today I had to do a restart for the first time since I added the dock.

When Ubuntu started up, the dock wasnt there. In fact nothing is on the screen except my wallpaper. Alt-F2 for some reason wont open so I cant run programs. I can get a terminal open though.

I think I forgot to set AWN to run during startup.

if you can get a terminal, you might try running awn from the terminal

try avant-window-navigator from the reminal

Now, add it to 'gnome-session-properties' so it loads at start-up... ('System -> Preferences -> Sessions')
