Hi all,
I am at lost with this problem I am facing. When I run a disc check on the LiveCD (that I burned in my desktop) on my laptop, it tells me there's 1 error. But the check went without errors on the desktop and I am able to install without problems on my desktop.

So up till now, I can't install Heron on my laptop and it gives me Error no 5.

Did anyone come across this kind of problem before?
Please help :)

Hi.

have you checked the MD5 values for the image that was created on your HDD before burning to the CD??

try all the other "obvious" stuff, like trying the CD on another laptop, in a different drive etc.

Also if you are happy with your destop instalation you could create your own image
see here for details

alternatively you could try a net install, see here,

good luck.

Hi!
Thanks for the response. I tried re-downloading yesterday again and the MD5SUM matched. Now the disc installs successfully.:)

Hi.

Brill, I'm glad the MD5 check solved your problem. However it would be good to know if the original disk that you were trying to use was "bad" in terms of the MD5.

I don't know why it would have been OK on one machine but not on another, if the MD5 check was bad I see no reason why it should have worked on either of the machines... so it is still a curious problem that may have had another cause?
