Hey

I have been a happy user of ubuntu 7.10. I have tried many times to install ubuntu 8.04 but I only get to the menu where you can choose to
-try ubuntu from disk,
-install ubuntu,
-check cd for defects,
-test memory
-boot first from hard drive
I can only boot from hard drive.
I have a acer aspire 5610z and there should not be any problems running ubuntu 8.04 but I cant

please help

What happens when you choose one of those options?

-check cd for defects,

What happens when you run that one? If it doesn't run then something is wrong. If it runs, it will tell you if there is a problem or not.

Possible causes of problems:

1) Have you md5summed the download?

2) Have you burned the iso as an iso?

3) Have you burned the iso at 4x or less?

4) The disk is bad.
